Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MyDietAI (“MyDietAI”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the MyDietAI mobile application (the “App”). MyDietAI is an AI-assisted nutrition tracking app. We take the privacy of your health information seriously and collect only what is needed to provide the App.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

• Email address and name — when you create an account or sign in with Apple or Google.
• Authentication is handled by our backend provider (Supabase). We never see your Apple/Google password.

Health & nutrition data you enter

• Food logs, meals, calories and macronutrients, and saved meals.
• Profile details you choose to provide, such as weight, goals, and dietary preferences.

Apple Health (HealthKit) data

• If you grant permission, the App reads steps and active energy from Apple Health to display alongside your nutrition. This data is read-only, used solely to show your activity within the App, and is never stored on our servers — it stays on your device.

Photos

• Food images you capture with the camera or select from your photo library for AI nutrition analysis. Images are uploaded to private, access-controlled storage, sent to our AI provider for analysis, and then deleted from our servers within seconds of analysis completing. We do not retain your food photos.

AI chat messages

• Messages you send to the in-app AI nutrition advisor, so it can respond. Chat messages are stored for up to 90 days and then automatically deleted.

Subscription information

• Your subscription status and purchase history, managed through our payments provider (RevenueCat) and Apple. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by Apple.

Diagnostics

• Crash reports and basic error diagnostics to keep the App stable. We have disabled collection of IP addresses, cookies, and session recordings. A minimal user identifier and email may be attached to a crash report so we can respond to support requests.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the App’s core features (logging, nutrition analysis, AI advice, activity display).
• To analyze food photos and answer your questions via our AI provider.
• To manage your account and subscription entitlements.
• To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
• To respond to your support requests.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. AI Processing

Food photos you submit and messages you send to the AI advisor are transmitted to Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to generate nutrition estimates and responses. Under Azure OpenAI’s terms, your prompts and images are not used to train or improve the underlying AI models. See Microsoft’s privacy statement for details. 4. How We Share Information

We share information only with service providers (“sub-processors”) that help us run the App, and only as needed:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (your account and logged data).
• Microsoft Azure OpenAI — AI analysis of food photos and chat messages.
• RevenueCat — subscription management (receives an app-specific user identifier and purchase status).
• Apple — in-app purchases, Sign in with Apple, and HealthKit.
• Google — Google Sign-In (if you choose it).
• Sentry — crash and error diagnostics.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the App.

5. Apple Health (HealthKit) Commitments

In line with Apple’s requirements, data read from HealthKit:

• is used only to provide features inside the App;
• is never used for advertising or marketing;
• is never shared with third parties for advertising, data brokering, or data mining;
• is never sold.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed:

• Food logs, weight, and account data — until you delete your account.
• Chat messages — up to 90 days, then automatically deleted.
• Food photos — deleted from our servers within seconds of AI analysis.
• Apple Health data — never stored on our servers.
• Diagnostic logs — retained for a short period for troubleshooting, then deleted.

When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data from our active systems, except where we must retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.

7. Your Rights & Choices

• Access & correction — view and edit your profile and logged data in the App.
• Deletion — you can delete your account, which removes your associated personal data. You can also contact us to request deletion.
• HealthKit — you can revoke Apple Health access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
• Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, port, restrict, or object to processing of your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your data is restricted by per-user database security policies and authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

9. Children’s Privacy

MyDietAI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country. By using the App, you consent to such transfer, processing, and storage consistent with this policy and applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be communicated within the App where appropriate.
